A beautiful rooftop ceremony | Warwick Allerton Hotel | Downtown Chicago
I had the great pleasure of shooting an intimate wedding ceremony at the top of the Warwick Allerton Hotel in downtown Chicago. The couple, Samantha and Michael, were incredibly sweet and had an incredible vision of getting some images on the fire escape showcasing the Tip Top Tap sign. This sign, which is visible from the street below, has been a Michigan Ave icon since the 1960's! And better yet, the Tip Top Tap was closed to the public for nearly 50 years before it re-opened again in 2014.
And good thing, because the views are incredible and the windows on each tower of the Warwick Allerton are stunning! After doing their first look in front of said windows in the northwest tower, Michael and Samantha then headed up to the 23rd floor to get the shots they have been dreaming of!
Truthfully, standing 23 floors up on a fire-escape was a little nerve wracking (to say the least!), but my mantra of "don't look down" worked because I was able to right out there with them! My mission was to deliver a gallery I knew they would love, even at such great heights 🙂
After the Tip Top Tap photos, they moved into the southeast tower of the Warwick Allerton Hotel, where they said their vows in front of a handful of their closest friends and family. The ceremony was both quiet and intimate (and back on stable ground!), and the dreamiest natural light flooded the room through the large windows that surrounded it. Their marriage was then sealed with a kiss before capturing a few more portrait shots.
Once the ceremony was over, Michael and Samantha continued their celebration at a nearby restaurant.
Overall, it was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful couple, and the Warwick Allerton Hotel was a perfect location in downtown Chicago for this intimate ceremony!
